Outseta supports usage based (metered pricing) models. Usage based products must be setup as add-on products—usage can charged alongside a free or paid plan.
With this model you setup an add-on product with a given rate, which is then multiplied by the amount of usage that occurs. Usage data can be updated manually or communicated to Outseta in an automated fashion via Outseta's API. Users are then be billed monthly based on their actual usage in the preceding month.
To setup usage based pricing, please follow the steps outlined below.
1. Select BILLING > ADD-ONS from the left hand side bar.
2. Select ADD ADD-ON.
3. Enter the Add-on Name then select Usage as the Add-on Type.
The monthly rate that you set will then be multiplied by the actual amount of usage that occurs. In this example, we are setting up a usage based billing plan where we charge customers a rate of 1% multiplied by their actual usage.
NOTE: This is the actual add-on that we use to charge you Outseta's 1% payment processing fee each month. We multiple the actual volume of payments that process each month by 1%, then bill you accordingly.
4. Once you have setup your usage based add-on, you can easily add it to any of your subscription plans. Select BILLING > PLANS from the left hand side bar. Select an existing plan or select ADD PLAN. Select ADD TO PLAN at the bottom of the screen for the usage based add-on that you just setup.
