All Outseta subscriptions automatically renew by default, unless you specifically configure your plans to expire. This article will show you how to configure automated subscription renewal reminder emails so your customers are notified shortly before their subscription renews.

1. Start by navigating to CRM > SEGMENTS—you'll create a segment that members will enter X number of days before their subscription renewal date. This segment will then be used to trigger the automated email reminder—name your segment something like "Subscription Renewals"

Conditions for this segment that we recommend include (match ALL):

  • Account Subscription Renewal Days Until = (enter the number of days prior to renewal that you want to send your email)
  • Account Subscription Plan Term = Yearly (typically you won't want to send reminders for monthly subscriptions)
  • Account is Primary Contact = true (sends the email to only the primary contact associated with the account)
  • Account Billing Stage = Subscribing (send the email to only active paid subscribers)

Once you've created and saved your segment, you can move on to drafting your renewal email.

2. Navigate to EMAIL > DRIP CAMPAIGNS—you'll create a drip campaign to send your renewal reminder email. Name your drip campaign something like "Subscription Renewal Reminder"

3. Trigger by choosing the Start Condition of the Person being added to your Subscription Renewals segment. Toggle the "Allow drip campaign to be repeated" toggle on—this will allow the same renewal reminder email to be sent each year prior to the member's renewal.

4. Enter a FROM address for your email.

5. Draft your actual email—the template and copy that you use in this email is entirely up to you. Pro tip: you can use a merge tag to pull the actual renewal date specific to the customer into the email itself.

6. When you're happy with your email, click the CONTINUE button and then ACTIVATE.
